Abhijeet Group has emerged as the successful bidder for setting up a 200 MW coal-based power plant for the proposed Multi-modal International Hub Airport at Nagpur (MIHAN). Forty players had initially shown interest in the project and the final selection was amongst Abhijeet Group, KSK Energy of Hyderabad, Cethar Vessels of Trichy, Shriram EPC of Chennai and Crompton Greaves of Mumbai where Abhijeet Group emerged as the lowest bidder with a tariff of less than Rs 3 /kWh. Ernst & Young were the exclusive transaction advisors to Maharastra Airport Development Company (MADC) in the selection process.
As per the bid agreement, the work on the Rs 11000 Mn power project will be completed within 30 months on a Built, Operate, and Transfer (BOT) basis. Abhijeet Group will be responsible for generating, transmitting and distributing reliable, uninterrupted and low cost Electricity to the projects of Maharastra government viz. Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and Multimodal International Hub Airport at Nagpur (MIHAN) spread over a total area of over 4,300 hectares.
Abhijeet MADC Nagpur Energy Private Limited (AMNEPL), a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) promoted jointly by the group and MADC has been incorporated for this prestigious project.
